Missions

This position is proposed in the framework of the Horizon-Europe project euROBIN (European Robotics and AI Network).

The research topic concerns the development and deployment of efficient methods for reactive planning of mobile robot navigation tasks in the presence of humans.

Activities

The work will consist in developing and deploying an open-source component, compatible with the ROS navigation stack, that can be parameterized according to the robot and the environment, and that allows to plan offline and also reactively robot navigation tasks in presence or in synergy with humans.

This system will be realized on the basis of an adaptation and an extension of the contributions of the RIS team of LAAS in the field of social navigation and in particular the COHAN software.

In addition to the realization and the distribution of this system, the mission will consist in coordinating the activities, within the euROBIN project, related to the planning and the control of robotic movements in presence or in synergy with humans and with other robots.

Skills

A thesis in the field of motion planning and/or human-robot interaction.

Technical skills: Good proven knowledge of C++, Python, Linux. Effective practice of ROS. Robotic simulators.

Work Context

The Laboratory of Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS) is a CNRS unit with activities in many fields. The post-doc will be supervised by researchers coming from the "Robotics and InteractionS" (RIS) team and will interact with researchers of the euROBIN project.

The research will take place at LAAS-CNRS in Toulouse in direct collaboration with Thierry Siméon (nic@laas.fr) and Rachid Alami (rachid.alami@laas.fr).
