Missions

The post-doctoral position founded by the EU Graphene Flagship project (Core 3, Worpackage WP1) at the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses (LNCMI)- Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Grenoble, in experimental solid-states physics. The research activities will be focused on optical spectroscopy studies of layered compounds: semiconductors, magnetic materials and semimetals.

Activities

Optical and magneto-optical studies of 2D and quasi-2D systems within the framework of the program Graphene Flagship (Core3, WP1). The emphasis will be put on layered materials with the antiferromagnetic and/or ferromagnetic ordering. The proposed work comprises also experiments using high magnetic field facility of the laboratory, often realized during nights and weekends.

Skills

- Optical spectroscopy in the visible and/or infrared spectral range (luminescence, absorption, Raman scattering, FTIR)
- solid knowledge in condensed-matter physics (semiconductors, semimetals and magnetic materials).
- Experience in the domain of time resolved techniques and applications of magnetic fields will be an asset.

Work Context

The successful candidate will be a member of the LNCMI team working within the EU Graphene Flagship project (Core 3, Work package WP1). She/he will be embedded within the Semiconductor and Nanophysics group (consisting of 10 members at the moment), and is expected to collaborate closely with the permanent research staff, postdoctoral fellows and PhD students of the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses in Grenoble (LNCMI) and actively interact with the LNCMI partners in the WP1 of the EU Graphene Flagship project.
LNCMI is the CNRS laboratory which mission is the research focused on applications of high magnetic fields. The scientific activities of the laboratory include both the in-house research programs and the support of frequent visitors or external users (within the frame of EMFL, European Magnetic Field Laboratory). The prospective candidate will act within a truly international scientific environment, working in diverse areas of physical sciences.
