General information

Reference : UPR2940-FLOPOI-009
Workplace : GRENOBLE
Date of publication : Thursday, August 01, 2019
Type of Contract : FTC Scientist
Contract Period : 12 months
Expected date of employment : 1 November 2019
Proportion of work : Full time
Remuneration : Between 2617 € and 3017 € gross monthly
Desired level of education : PhD
Experience required : Indifferent

Missions

The project concerns the use of compositionally graded films to study the intrinsic and extrinsic magnetic properties of hard magnetic materials. Emphasis will be placed on two rare earth transition metal families of overall composition RFe12 and R2T14B (where R is the rare earth, T is a transition metal).

Activities

A combination of composition variation, deposition conditions and post-deposition annealing conditions will be used to control the size and shape of the main phase grains and the distribution of secondary phases. Structural analysis (XRD, SEM, TEM, EBSD...) will be combined with magnetic characterisation (VSM-SQUID, MFM, scanning-MOKE...). The impact of the microstructure of the extrinsic magnetic properties will be modelled.

Skills

The candidate must hold a PhD and have a solid background in magnetism. Prior experience in hard magnetic film deposition, structural and magnetic characterization and micromagnetic simulations is essential.

Work Context

This work will be carried out in the framework of an industry financed collaboration.
