Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct large-scale bioinformatic and comparative analyses to characterize the coding potential of transposable elements (TEs) and their evolutionary dynamics across eukaryotes.
He or she will contribute to the development and application of genomic and epigenomic analysis pipelines, including the use of high-throughput and long-read sequencing data.
The candidate will also participate in the biological interpretation of results, the drafting of scientific articles, and the presentation of research findings at international conferences
Activity
-Conduct and coordinate bioinformatics and comparative genomics analyses as part of the research project
-Analyze and interpret high-throughput sequencing data and large-scale genomic datasets
-Adapt and optimize analysis pipelines and tools to meet the project's needs
-Participate in the integration, structuring, and scientific interpretation of the results produced
-Contribute to scientific and technical interactions with team members and project collaborators

-Strong knowledge of genomics and evolutionary biology
-Fluency in scientific English (written and spoken)
-Knowledge of transposable elements, epigenomics, or genomics
-Experience in sequencing data analysis (RNA-seq, WGS, WGBS, or similar)
-Programming skills (Python, R, or equivalent)
-Experience in comparative genomics or transposable element annotation is a plus
-Ability to develop and adapt bioinformatics pipelines
-Experience in a high-performance computing (HPC) environment is desired

Professional skills (behavior and professional practices):
-Independence and the ability to lead a research project
-Scientific rigor and critical thinking
-Ability to work as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment
-Strong scientific communication skills
-Motivation to contribute to a long-term collaborative project
Your Work Environment
This position is part of an ERC project aimed at understanding how interactions between transposable elements and the host genome influence their evolutionary success, persistence, and impact on genome evolution (https://doi.org/10.3030/101229950)
The postdoctoral fellow will join the “Plant Quantitative Genomics and Epigenomics” team at Paris-Saclay University, working in an interdisciplinary environment that combines population genomics, epigenomics, computational biology, and molecular genetics.
The project involves international collaborations and access to high-performance computing (HPC) and GPU resources.
