Missions

The research activity of the postdoctoral fellow will be performed within the framework of the "Proton Radius European Network" (PREN, http://www.strong-2020.eu/networking-activities/na4-pren.html) which is part of STRONG-2020 European project. It will be carried out within the hadronic physics team of the "high energy physics" pole of the laboratoire de physique des 2 infinis Irène Joliot-Curie (IJCLab) under the supervision of Dominique Marchand, local leader of PREN, in collaboration with the researchers involved. The work will consist in performing an objective and exhaustive analysis of the ep elastic scattering data with the aim of extracting the moments of the charge and magnetization densities, among which the proton charge and magnetic radii.

Activities

The person recruited will study the application of recent theoretical developments of the group to ep elastic scattering data, and will extend this approach to Zemarch moments. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct these studies until their publication and their dissemination in conferences.

Skills

- PhD in subatomic physics,
- Demonstrated skills in data analysis and modeling,
- Proficiency in the C++ (or C) programming language and the ROOT software suite,
- Autonomy, organizational capacity and accountability with pedagogy,
- Ability to work in a team,
- Fluency in English (oral and written),
- Proven ability to add value to research: oral presentations and publications.

Work Context

Le laboratoire de physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot-Curie (IJCLab, https://www.ijclab.in2p3.fr/) is a joint research unit under the supervision of the CNRS, the Université de Paris-Saclay and the Université de Paris. IJCLab is located on the Orsay campus, 20 km south of Paris, accessible by RER B.
IJCLab brings together over 700 people and is organized into 7 scientific poles (nuclear physics, high energy physics, astroparticles / astrophysics and cosmology, energy and environment, physics for health, accelerators), an engineering pole and an administrative pole. The group that the selected candidate will join is made up of 4 people and is part of the Jlab-EIC team (~ 15 persons) which is integrated into the high energy physics pole which accounts for a hundred members.

Constraints and risks

Short-term trips in France and/or abroad are to be expected.
