This is a CNRS postdoctoral position in mathematics at Laboratoire Alexander Grothendieck (UMR 9009, CNRS-IHES), funded by the ERC starting Grant "Discrete Groups and Geometric Structures" (DiGGeS). The postdoctoral researcher will work on discrete subgroups of Lie groups and geometric structures on manifolds in the framework of the ERC project DiGGeS.

The postdoctoral researcher:
- will do research on discrete subgroups of Lie groups and their geometric aspects in the framework of the ERC project DiGGeS
- will write research articles on these themes
- will participate in seminars organised in the framework of the ERC project DiGGeS and in scientific discussions
- will possibly participate in conferences and workshops in France and abroad

We are looking for a candidate with a strong research potential, interested in investigating discrete subgroups of Lie groups acting on various geometric spaces. Particular attention will be paid to candidates who already have some experience working on one of the following topics: discrete subgroups of Lie groups, Teichmüller or Higher Teichmüller theory, dynamics on character varieties, geometric structures on manifolds (hyperbolic geometry, convex projective geometry, Lorentzian or more generally pseudo-Riemannian geometry, etc.).

Work Context

The postdoctoral researcher will be affiliated to Laboratoire Alexander Grothendieck, a CNRS unit located within IHES at Bures-sur-Yvette, France. The Laboratoire offers excellent working conditions in a calm environment within the very active Paris region.
