A funded post-doc position is currently available in the GyrAChip project of the Atom Interferometry and Inertial Sensors team at SYRTE laboratory in Paris. We are looking for an early-stage researcher to work on the instrumental development of a mobile atom-chip gyro/accelerometer for inertial navigation applications. The research is to be conducted on an existing experiment.


-Realization of matter wave optics components (Bragg and Raman lasers)
-Preparation of ultra cold atoms in a magnetic guide
-Modeling, measurement and roughness characterization of magnetic guiding potentials
-Co-supervision of trainees and PhD students


-Ultra cold atom realiaztion and manipulation in atom chips
-Realization of linear and ring rf magnetic guides in atom chips
-rf dressed potentials
-Design and realization of small electronic circuits
-Instrumentation for atom interferometry and inertial sensing

Work Context

SYRTE is one of the world leading metrology laboratories working in the field of atom interferometry with cold atom. The laboratory develops state-of-the-art projection noise limited frequency standards and inertial sensors. The research activities of the laboratory have a significant impact on the industrial applications of cold atoms. The first cold atom gyroscope was built at the SYRTE laboratory by the AIIS group and our primary frequency standards, besides of contributing to the International Atomic Time (TAI), they also participate to the European Global Positioning System (GPS) via the telecommunication and radionavigation satellites EGNOS and GALILEO.
