The objective is to conduct research on the reforms of the financial infrastructure undertaken worldwide following the financial crisis of 2008. Financial infrastructure refers to the set of institutions (stock exchanges, Central counterparties, payment systems...) that intervene in the operation of financial intermediaries and, more broadly, to the regulatory framework for the financial sector. The two main regulatory measures are: (1) mandatory use of central counterparties for transactions on standardized derivatives (2) report of all derivatives transactions to regulators. These reforms, partially implemented, aim at improving the efficiency and stability of the financial system. The research questions include the following: the management of risks and the capital structure of the central counterparties, the impact of the financial infrastructures on the financial institutions and their tades, the competition on between the central counterparties and coordination between jurisdictions. The post-doctoral fellow is free to conduct research on these issues, depending on his/her interests and competences, in coordination with Gabrielle Demange.

The post-doctoral fellow will participate in the scientific activities of the ANR FIRR team, comprising 4 researchers from Pse, Banque de France and HEC. He / she will develop theoretical or empirical models in order to assess the effectiveness of new regulatory measures on the risk of the financial system by mobilizing, for example, tools from game theory and network modeling (to model over-the-counter markets and assess the impact of CCPs) industrial organization and insurance economics (to study competition between CCPs) political economy (to study competition between constituencies), and simulation methods.
