The TARICA programme (Political and socio-institutional changes in North Africa. Confrontation of models and diversity of trajectories), funded by an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council (ERC), is recruiting 1 young researcher. This four-year programme aims to analyse the changes taking place in North Africa in terms of the diffusion, confrontation and hybridization of various political, societal and economic models, and as a product of the appropriation and reinterpretation made by the actors. The aim is to understand how different public, private and associative actors position themselves in open spaces through the collapse or questioning of authoritarian political systems, and to analyse their strategies in relation to the reference models and normative registers that inspire their actions. The objective is also to identify the factors and processes that make possible (or prevent) the establishment of institutional arrangements capable of managing social diversity, pluralism and conflict. Based on this actor-centred approach, we seek to highlight the complex processes that contribute to the diversity of trajectories followed by the five North African countries directly or indirectly affected by the "Arab revolts", namely Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Libya, each of these countries representing a case study or even a full "model". Based on a multidisciplinary and comparative approach, which articulates different levels of analysis, the project proposes to explore these different processes through three complementary research axes: (i) the recomposition of the political game and forms of regulation, (ii) transitional justice and models of reconciliation, (iii) models of development and social justice.
