A postdoctoral position on the physicochemistry for photon/thin films interaction is opened at the GREMI Laboratory, CNRS-University of Orleans. This position concerns direct surface texturing of thin layers of polymers and oxides by several laser sources to study their potential of application in energy recovery for micro-devices. As part of the Call for Academic Initiative Project (APR-IA) on the Understanding of Superficial Mechanisms of Materials Processing (CoMeMat), the postdoctoral researcher will have to carry out several tasks in parallel on the surface treatment by laser sources. Among the main missions : 1- Synthesis of thin layers by various technologies including 'PVD' and 'spin-coating'. 2- Mastering ultra-short laser beams (nanosecond, picosecond and femtosecond) as well as acceptable skills on laser processing and surface micro and nanostructuring. 3- Characterization of surfaces by physico-chemical analyzes (SEM, TEM, AFM ...).
The researcher will have to carry out in the framework of the CoMéMat project that is essentially experimental work on devices for the elaboration of materials, their control and finally their characterization. He will also be in charge of the laser femtosecond workstation operation of in GREMI within a researcher and Engineer team that he will reinforce. He will participate in the design of characterization campaigns and their implementation based on the facilities available on the Orleans Campus.
The candidate must hold a doctorate in a scientific field, physico-chemistry, including photons / material interaction and characterization. The candidate should also have experience in polymer-based materials, functionalization and surface characterization. An additional experience in nanofabrication/nanotechnology (lithography) is welcomed for the CoMéMat project. It should also be noted that this experimental work requires skills on the routine use of scientific devices. The candidate must demonstrate a real motivation for team work. Fluency in English is highly desirable
Mainly located at GREMI, the researcher selected on the CoMéMat project will collaborate with several teams from the GREMI laboratory (Laser, low-pressure plasma, clean room) and also with teams from the Orléans Campus, notably at the ICMN. Constraints and risks: Laser radiation hazard.
Departure period: The position is open in February 2020 for one year.
Location: Orleans is located 120 km south of Paris, France.
• The CoMéMat project is supported by the Centre Val de Loire Region in France. This project brings together several laboratories in Orléans: CRMD, GREMI, CEMHTI, ISTO involved in surface modifications of materials for future and promising applications.
