The development of eco-compatible transformations able to create complex enantioenriched molecules while decreasing waste generation is a central goal of modern chemistry. Toward this end, the project is dedicated to the development of innovative multi-catalyzed transformations combining different metal- and organo-catalysts. In order to bypass the inherent limits of classical catalysts used alone, we propose to develop enantioselective transformations by merging the best from two compatible catalytic processes. The multi-catalytic activation developed would allow to obtain reactivities totally inconceivable by applying a single catalyst, giving opportunities for the discovery of unique environmentally friendly transformations.
The selected candidate will be involved in the development of these new methodologies from initial optimization, scope and application to small natural products fragments synthesis.
The position requires a solid training in organic synthesis and catalysis. The skills required for this research are the classical skills of an organic chemist, especially concerning the ability to perform reactions under inert conditions and to purify organic compounds using standard techniques (chromatography, recrystallization, distillation) and a good knowledge in NMR analysis (1H, 13C, DEPT, HSQC, HMBC). We will look for a rigorous, motivated and enthusiastic candidate with excellent knowledge in general organic chemistry. The position will be entirely dedicated to this project and hence be 100% funded by the ANR.
The research will be conducted at the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires de Marseille of Aix-Marseille university, a world leading university (https://www.univ-amu.fr/en).
