Missions
He/she will study the signaling pathways that regulate cardiac septation and the morphogenesis of chambers at the interface between parts of the heart derived from the first and second cardiac fields in a novel mouse model of congenital heart defects.
Activities
Form working hypotheses, perform experiments and analyze data to complete the project; work as part of a team involving student supervision and data presentation.
Analysis of cardiac septation using mouse genetics.
Characterization of morphological defects in a novel model of heart defect at the cellular and molecular levels.
Undertake genetic approaches to identify and validate the mechanisms underlying the morphological defects.
Skills
He/she will have prior experience in one or more areas of mouse genetics, embryology, intercellular signaling, or bioinformatics.
Proficiency in English communication (oral and written) and scientific writing.
Ability to work well in a team.
Work Context
IBDM is located on the Luminy Campus and comprises about 240 permanent researchers, professors, engineers and technicians and non-permanent staff (CDD, post-docs, PhD students, trainees) working in 21 research teams and 11 technical platforms and services.
IBDM is a joint research unit under the supervision of the CNRS and AMU, which explores the field of developmental biology and associated pathologies.
The activity will be carried out within the team "Genetic Control of Heart Development" directed by Robert Kelly
As the team is composed of several nationalities, English language skills are essential.
