Missions
The Hormonal Signaling and Development (Signal) team studies floral development, we analyze the spatio-temporal distributions of hormonal signals and their role during organogenesis within the meristem (the tissue containing the stem cells at the origin of new organs). To do this, we combine approaches from molecular genetics, imaging and modeling. The candidate will be associated with an ANR project and will have the mission of conducting experiments in order to understand how intercellular communication contributes to the organization and functioning of the floral meristem in the Arabidopsis thaliana plant.
Activities
The candidate will work as part of a collaborative ANR with the team of Christophe Godin (MOSAIC team at RDP) and that of Yuchen Long (Singapore). He / she will set up experiments in molecular biology, in vitro culture and microscopy to understand how cellular communication by diffusion contributes to the transport of water and the establishment of new organs. He / she will have to implement and carry out experiments in molecular biology, genetic transformation, in vitro culture, microdissection and confocal imaging. The experiments and their analyzes should be clearly detailed in a laboratory notebook, the experimental data obtained will be discussed and presented with the other members of the project and the team.
Skills
- Control molecular biology techniques: cloning, PCR, DNA / RNA extraction, qPCR….
- Control confocal microscopy techniques and image analysis
- Control specialized computer tools for molecular biology
- Control general IT tools (spreadsheet, etc.)
-Ability to integrate into a team and to conduct biological experiments.
-Ability to present written and oral results.
-English read, written, spoken.
Work Context
The RDP laboratory (Reproduction and Development of Plants) is a mixed multi-supervisory research unit (CNRS, INRAE, ENS de Lyon, UCBL, and associated with INRIA) made up of 9 research teams (approximately 120 people). The laboratory is located on the Monod site of the ENS de Lyon. The assistant engineer will be attached to the Signal team led by Teva Vernoux. He / she will work under the direction of Geraldine Brunoud and will also be required to work in collaboration and communicate with the teams of Christophe Godin (on site) and Yuchen Long (remotely).
Constraints and risks
The candidate will work in a research team and will have to get involved in the organization and present these results at meetings
