The Seed Development (SeedDev) team aims to understand how the different tissues of the developing seed communicate, starting from fertilization. To this end, we combine molecular genetics, imaging and biophysics approaches. The applicant will participate in a collaborative project aiming to understand how the elimination of specific seed tissues 'notably in the endosperm) is regulated, and affects this communication.
The candidate will participate in a collaborative ANR project with the group of Enrico Magnani (Versailles). He/she will use molecular genetics and developmental biology techniques to understand how specific populations of endosperm cells are eliminated. He/she will combine these approaches with metabolomic analyses, immunolocalization, confocal imaging and electron microscopy to develop an in depth understanding of the physiological functions of endosperm elimination and the cellular changes that occur during this process.
The candidate should have a PhD in biology
He/she should have experience in biological imaging, molecular genetics and/or developmental biology
He/she should have experience in writing and presenting science in English
He she should have at least one first author article published, or in the process of being published
The candidate will visit the collaborating group to carry out specific experiments and for progress meetings. The RDP laboratory (Reproduction and Development of Plants) is a mixed multi-supervisory research unit (CNRS, INRAE, ENS de Lyon, UCBL, and associated with INRIA) made up of 9 research teams (approximately 120 people). The laboratory is located on the Monod site of the ENS de Lyon. The post-doctoral fellow will be attached to the SeedDev team led by Gwyneth Ingram. He / she will also be required to work in collaboration with the Enrico Magnani team (data exchange, on-site experiences).
