The successful candidate will simulate Raman spectra of popualtions of carbon clusters isomers Cn (n=24,42,60) of astrophysical interest using methods based on DFTB (Density Functional based Tight Binding). This work will conclude the theoretical works undertaken in the framework of the ANR PACHYNO (2017-2022) that led to several publications in astrophysical journals in particular, such as the vibrational and optical spectra of carbon clusters (Dubosq et al., Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2019 et 2020).


Extensive calculations on large size gas phase systems will be undertaken. Resultats will be compared to experimental results. The code that will be used has been previously developed and tested.


A solid background in theoretical chemistry and numerical simulations is required.
Skills in managing and organising data are mandatory.

Work Context

The successful applicant will be part of the "Laboratoire de Chimie et Physique Quantique " in the "Modelling, Aggregates, Dynamics" group under the responsivility of Aude Simon. This team is constituted of 7 permanent researchers whereas the laboratory counts about 30 researchers working in various fields of theoretical chemistry (developments of methods, applications in various domains such as magnetism, astrochemistry, materials., photochemistry...)
