The candidate will study networks including jointly several types of interactions between species of ecological communities. In collaborations with statisticians, a generic statistical framework for multi-layer networks (both multiplex and multipartite) will be proposed. The objective will be to describe and understand the structural properties of multi-interaction ecological networks, as well as to investigate the functional consequences of these structures. The candidate is expected to work in tight collaboration with both ecologists and statisticians of the ECONET project.


The work will involve i) the gathering and proposing of descriptors for multi-layer ecological networks, ii) the investigation of the building blocks of ecological networks in multilayer data sets, and iii) the investigation of the resilience of multilayer networks to changes. The candidate will develop and apply tools for these purposes that will be shared with the scientific community.
