The project is part of a research program in the field of mammalian reproductive biology. The researcher will take charge of the metabolic and functional analysis of human and murine spermatozoa in physiological and pathophysiological contexts.

The project aims at: i.) Characterizing at the functional and molecular level, the metabolic pathways of energy production in human and murine spermatozoa, ii.) Characterizing the metabolic status of spermatozoa from infertile patients and pathologic mutant mouse models, iii.) developing innovative therapeutic strategies for male infertility.
Most of the work will take place at the Institut pour l'Avancée des Biosciences (IAB, Grenoble). The researcher will rely on the skills in spermatogenesis and sperm physiology of the team directed by Dr Aminata Touré (DR2, CNRS) and on the skills in metabolism of the collaborating team directed by Dr Carina Prip-Buus (DR2, CNRS. Institute Cochin, Paris). The researcher will also rely on services provided by external platforms specializing in metabolism, lipidomics and proteomics.

Work Context

The Institute for Advanced Biosciences (IAB) is a mixed research unit supervised by the CNRS (UMR 5309), INSERM (U1209) and the University of Grenoble Alpes. The IAB is developing a set of fundamental and translational research programs in the fields of epigenetics, environment, cell plasticity with application to cancers, parasitic infections and infertility. The IAB comprises 19 teams and 5 technical platforms.
The researcher will work within the research group 'Physiology and physiopathology of Sperm cells', which comprises: a full time Research Director (DR2 CNRS), a researcher (CRCN Inserm), a Lecturer (MCF UGA), a PhD student and Master students.
