The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the Senescence, Cancer and Aging laboratory headed by David Bernard. He/she will develop a project investigating the role of new mechanisms controlling cellular senescence, in particular secretory factors, and decipher their impacts in cancer and aging. Details of the project will be directly discussed with the candidates. He/she will work under the supervision of David Bernard and Philippe Bertolino, in collaboration with other team members within the framework a French National Cancer Institute (INCA) supported project.


The postdoctoral fellow will be in charge of developing her/his project. He/she shall handle design, plan, perform and interpret various experiments. He/she should master the associated literature. He/she should be able to communicate his/her results in the lab and outside. He/she should be able to work independently as well as with other team members and collaborators pending of the project needs.


We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic scientist. The applicant must hold a doctorate in the field of molecular and cellular biology with good knowledge of cellular senescence, mouse models and/or cancer and aging biology. Experience in cell culture, manipulating gene expression as well as in classical cell and molecular biology techniques as well as some knowledge in using mice are required. Applicant should be a fist author of at least one publication related to the subject or skills required for the project. Candidates must have a positive attitude as a team member and should be able to communicate (oral and written skills) in English.

Work Context

Our laboratory is part of the Cancer Initiation and Tumor cell Identity department inside the Cancer Research Centre of Lyon (CRCL - INSERM U1052 / CNRS 5286) located in Lyon, France. This center is affiliated to CNRS and INSERM French research agencies, and to Centre Léon Bérard Hospital. The successful applicant should start around december 2020. This contract is initially for 1 year, at least renewable twice. This is a full time job. Applicant should hold a PhD in the field of Biology, ideally since less than 1 year. Salary will be according to the CNRS scale.
Our international laboratory is composed of about 20 people and we are working in a dynamic environment. The candidate will also benefit from the scientific environment (about 20 teams and about 500 people dedicated to cancer research) and technical platforms provided by the CRCL.

Work with normal/primary human cells and with mice.
