Missions

Goal:
The recruited researcher will use in vitro and in vivo approaches to study the molecular mechanisms of genome integrity preservation. The laboratory has highlighted and is therefore focused on the control that metabolic, environmental and nutritional signals can have on the establishment of DNA damage detection and repair. In this context, the recruited candidate will have to demonstrate extensive knowledge in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microscopy and / or Cell Biology techniques and apply them with independence to explore this new link.

Activities

Main Activities:
The laboratory has recently observed a phenomenon whereby, in the face of DNA damage, a regulation of the management of its signaling and repair is performed by lipids. The recruited person will have to use his / her skills (read below) to characterize the molecular mechanisms explaining this phenomenon. In addition, this person will have to evaluate the consequences for the cell when the implementation of this regulation is prevented.

Skills

Qualifications:
- Essential Qualification: PhD
- Publication(s) as a first author in high impact journals from each previous period (thesis and / or post-doc(s)...)
- Ability to work independently at the same time as integrating into a collaborative research team.
- In-depth knowledge in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microscopy and / or Cell Biology techniques.
- Knowledge of cell nucleus biology (preferably genome stability) and / or proteomics and / or lipid metabolism.
- Expertise of human cells in culture and / or yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae or Schizosaccharomyces pombe as model(s) of study.
- Excellent level of spoken, read, written and understood English.
- Ability to write scientific articles
- Availability, ability, desire and motivation to go to scientific conferences to represent the team and its own work.
- Positive attitude towards work and good-willing towards colleagues.

Work Context

Working Context:
The recruited person will work in the "Cytoplasmic Control of Genome Stability" team. This team was created in January 2019. Considering the post-doc recruitment published in this offer, at the end of the year the team will be composed by the team leader, two research engineers, the post-doc and a master student. The team is part of the Cellular Biology Research Center of Montpellier (CRBM), a world-renowned institute for its active and multidisciplinary research in Cell Biology, with an excellent microscopy platform. The CRBM is placed in a very active campus scientifically talking, where basic and clinical research, and interdisciplinary collaborations are fostered on a daily basis.
