The goal of the 1y mission is to study at the atom scale, the behavior of thin layers' stacks (metal, oxide…) as a function of the annealing temperature.
Experimenter with a PHD in material science with solid knowledge in atomic diffusion, the candidate will have to master the different aspects of Atom Probe Tomography: tips preparation by FIB-SEM, acquisition, data treatment.
In the framework of collaboration with the Institute of Physic of RWTH University in AACHEN (Germany), we propose to study the impact of the temperature applied to the stack of different nano-layers (oxide, metal) at the atomic scale. To access to the composition of the sub-nanometric scale in order to identify the phenomena occurring within these heterogeneous systems (interfaces, grains boundaries in polycrystalline layers), AtomProbe Tomography is most adapted tool. This postdoctoral work will consist in:
- Participating in the development of thin film stacks by PVD
- Defining the thermal treatments to be applied
- Operating the tip preparation by FIB-SEM according to different configurations (cross section, plan view)
- Performing the APT acquisitions
- Interpreting the data and establish the reaction scenario within the layers and at the interfaces
- Synthesizing and capitalize all the results obtained.

This position is assigned to the SVI laboratory which is a joint unit Saint-Gobain-CNRS, located in the Saint Gobain Research Paris center in Aubervilliers (93), but the position will take place essentially (9 months) at the RWTH Physics Institute in AACHEN (Germany)
