Missions

Post-doctorate : Evaluation of multi-actor cooperation mechanisms in socio-ecological transition initiatives

"Co-research" initiatives tend to develop in the framework of the ecological and solidarity-based transition. They aim to articulate collective actions and public policies and involve research actors alongside social actors (private, associations, politicians, etc.). They are based on cooperation mechanisms whose evaluation and monitoring - using appropriate indicators - raise new research and methodological questions.

The aim is to propose tools or frameworks to meet the specific challenges of evaluation approaches to support and manage multi-actor cooperation initiatives aimed at contributing to socio-ecological transitions in the field of joint research involving public, private and academic actors.

Activities

Activity 1: Preparation of research protocols
o State of the art of the literature
o Collection of existing monitoring-evaluation approaches for collaborative/participatory processes aimed at organising and steering multi-actor cooperation initiatives in socio-ecological transitions
o Identification of the "obstacles" (main points to be strengthened and missing methodological frameworks) and "levers" (methodological and partnership innovations adapted to this type of intervention and aiming to strengthen the cooperation mechanisms)
o Drafting of a protocol note structuring an evaluative approach to be prototyped

Activity 2: Experimentation, prototyping of the approach through testing on different practical case studies
o Participation in evaluations of this type of approach on several cases (ongoing projects involving the MSH and/or Quadrant Conseil); testing the relevance of the approach and the tools for evaluating cooperation
o Writing a report on the main results
c. Activity 3: Study of the possibilities of scaling up the approach
o Analysis of the general scope of this approach, of the conditions for its dissemination and of its added value in relation to other existing evaluation approaches
o Production of a practical guide, capitalisation and/or feedback tools with the social actors in charge of designing and implementing transition approaches.

Skills

a. Knowledge and initial experience of the dynamics of cooperation and/or multi-stakeholder participation; theoretical knowledge of the human sciences (psychology, sociology, political science, etc.); knowledge of the evaluation of projects, systems or public policies.
b. Know-how: Designing and implementing data collection and analysis protocols; designing and conducting group activities with a strong participatory and/or cooperative dimension.
c. Ability to adapt and work independently but also within work teams, relational ease, ease with iterative and inductive approaches, flexibility and adaptation to a changing work environment, communication skills and co-construction approaches.

Work Context

The research activities of the position will be mainly located in Montpellier within the MSH SUD. The person in post will be required to travel regularly to Paris, where Quadrant-Conseil's headquarters are located, and occasionally to other cities in the context of evaluation missions.
